Double Hung Replacement Windows

Double Hung Windows are one of the most common
replacement window types available. These windows have an upper and lower sash that slide up and down. This is unlike the single hung window where only one of the sashes moves up and down. Double hung windows appear in multiple configurations: singles, doubles, triples or more. The sash of the window can also come in many configurations depending on the style desired. The most common arrangement of the sash window is three panes across by two panes down on each sash which results in what is called a 'six over six' arrangement. Many of the newer window manufacturers offer tilting window sashes which allows for more efficient cleaning of the windows.
